» About Us
Jesus House Chicago (JHC) has a mandate to create outreach ministries and build stronger communities through social reformation. Hence, TLT was created and began simply by providing meals to the homeless community in the Chicago land area. Struck by the need of the local community that housed JHC, TLT began to establish relationships with shelters in the Albany Park and Uptown areas in Chicago and as a result, TLT was able to provide transportation to JHC twice a week to feed the homeless people in addition to picking up people on the street.
In 2006, TLT’s leadership was transferred to Pastor Olumide Oluwole. Since then, TLT has become a registered non-profit (501 C) agency providing services beyond food. TLT currently conducts service twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are utilized for preaching, when our members are fed with God’s word and Fridays are purposed for teaching and interaction. On Fridays, our members are able to ask questions and bounce ideas off each other about living every day with challenges such as addictions, mental illness, and homelessness as Christians. After both services, our members are offered hot meals and transported back to the shelters.
In addition to the Wednesday and Friday services, we have movie nights, outings, and Bingo to encourage our members and demonstrate Christians are able live fun filled lives. Annually, TLT has two large events – the summer picnic and its thanksgiving dinner. These events are used as evangelism tools and fund raisers to meet the needs of our members during the year. The thanksgiving dinner serves as a medium for TLT to prepare its members for the harsh winter by providing winter necessities stuffed in backpacks such as blankets, socks, hats, scarves, and toiletries.
The ministry has a full functioning administrative office. Our office hours provide an opportunity for our members to receive counseling, referrals to community agencies for food assistance, job trainings, resume assistance, and financial aid for transportation and clothing. The temporary housing program is run thorough the office. The housing program provides housing to carefully selected members for 6-12 months through an intensive intake process. The office oversees the financial aspects of the ministry. The office also manages the quarterly publication, Miracle Minute. The success of TLT is evidenced by the powerful life changing testimonies our members give and visible change of many of their life-styles.
Our mission is to serve God's kingdom by teaching and aiding His people in living a victorious life through social reformation by enhancing member's spiritual growth with faith-based counseling, employment opportunities, supportive housing, food assistance, and life skills that will enable our members to live an independent life rooted in Christ.
The Lord's Table is an outreach ministry of Jesus House Chicago that mirrors the vision of the church. That is; to prepare a people for living victoriously, excellence in life and greatness in life.
