» The Lord's Home

The housing project, The Lord’s Home started because of the need to house members of the The Lord’s Table (TLT) ministry. However, the incentive went a step further than a typical shelter. The Lord’s Home provides support for its residents through sustaining housing cost such as rent, gas, electricity, phone, and internet for six-twelve months. It is required that residents of the The Lord’s Home save 30% of their income and demonstrate that they are in education, school, work, or vocational training. The maximum length of stay is twelve months. The Lord’s Home believes that if our disadvantaged members are given an opportunity combined with adequate resources, they will be able to transition into their communities productively. In an effort to support its members, The Lord’s Home utilizes many qualified volunteers to motivate residents in areas such as job and social skills trainings, conflict resolution, money management, and many others. It is also mandatory for our members to attend our church services, workshops, and seminars as scheduled.

Mission

The Lord’s Home is a subsidiary ministry of The Lord’s Table (TLT) aimed at providing transitional supportive housing for 6-12 months to its residents. Grounded in Christian principles, we understand that our residents are individuals who experience barriers to maintain housing such as poverty, substance abuse/dependence, mental and/or other health issues, discrimination, educational and employment deficits, lack of social support, and disconnection from their communities. We believe that by providing mentoring opportunities, spiritual and community support we will be able to reduce these barriers and break the chronic cycle of homelessness. The goal of the Lord’s Home services is to engage its members (residents) and to advocate their growing independence. Our objective is to develop programming through qualified volunteers who will provide a variety of opportunities that facilitate good health, autonomy, and spiritual growth. We accept each individual in the Lord’s Home regardless of their past circumstance or their chosen new path to success.

Vision

The Lord’s Home provides supportive services through volunteers and the community for its residents to transition them from chronic homelessness to a more independent lifestyle.

Daniel's Den

Daniel’s Den (D’s Den) is the first installment of The Lord’s Home. D’s Den is deliberately located in the community near the church that houses The Lord’s table ministry. It is also located in an area that is highly accessible by public transportation. D’s Den is a single male residence. Currently, D’s Den is a two-bedroom apartment that accommodates up to four men (view gallery). Its name Daniel’s Den is intentional. During the time Daniel was in the den of lions, he found peace and comfort because God protected him. Many of our members come from drug addictions, mental illness, abuse, and discrimination that represent the “den of life” and we hope that this opportunity serves as the peace and solace Daniel felt because God unconditionally loves them.

The Future

As God wills, we hope to begin a selection process for women’s residential soon. Our vision is to procure our own property which will allow to house more members and finally help families.
